EDMONTON – Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Brenda Hubley as Managing Director of Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), effective May 26, 2026. With more than 30 years of clinical and leadership experience in the Alberta Health system, Hubley’s expertise will benefit Alberta’s long-term commitment to cancer services across the province.
“Brenda Hubley brings extensive leadership experience and is well positioned to guide Cancer Care Alberta and support its health care teams in continuing to deliver high-quality cancer care for Albertans,” said Matt Jones, Minister, Hospital and Surgical Health Services.
Beginning her career as a Radiation Therapist, Hubley brings a front-line perspective to the management of cancer programs in large academic centres and rural community settings. Her leadership has been instrumental in the current development of a multi-year cancer strategic plan, which focuses on advancing cancer care across the cancer continuum.
“Having worked closely with Brenda, I have seen firsthand her commitment to operational excellence. Her clinical background and strategic mindset are exactly what Acute Care Alberta needs as we integrate cancer services into a more streamlined, responsive system for all Albertans," said David Diamond, Interim CEO, Acute Care Alberta.
Hubley will also oversee a significant provincial investment in cancer care over the next three years.
“I am honored to continue leading our dedicated team at Cancer Care Alberta during this pivotal period of transformation. With the government’s commitment of $223 million in funding over the next three years, we are well positioned to advance the critical work of expanding capacity and improving patient access to services. This investment strengthens our ability to deliver best-in-class care and ensures all Albertans have access to high-quality cancer services,” added Brenda Hubley, Managing Director, Cancer Care Alberta.
Hubley earned a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
