Provincial Patient and Family Advisory Council

Overview

The Acute Care Alberta Provincial Patient and Family Advisory Council (ACA PFAC) is a volunteer group of Albertans who bring firsthand experience as patients, family members, and caregivers within the healthcare system. Council members provide advice, perspectives, and insights based on their lived experiences to help inform the design, delivery, evaluation, and improvement of programs, services, policies, and initiatives across Acute Care Alberta.

The Council meets virtually on a monthly basis, creating opportunities for healthcare leaders, planners, and teams to engage directly with patient and family advisors. Through consultation and collaboration, members help ensure that the voices and experiences of patients, families, and caregivers inform decision-making and that people-centred care remains at the heart of system planning and improvement efforts.

Engage with ACA PFAC

Evidence shows that the more patients and families are involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of health services, the more effective those services are at improving patient outcomes.
